Can Marlés optimizes management of its high-performance center with a 3R AWS100-AQ weather and air quality station installed by Darrera

Located in the heart of Collserola Natural Park, the sports complex now has accurate, reliable, real-time environmental data to plan training sessions and ensure the best possible conditions for its athletes.

Can Marlés is home to the Tennis Empowerment Center Carles Ferrer Salat, a high-performance center specializing in tennis, as well as a foundation dedicated to the well-rounded development of young elite athletes. At an outdoor facility like this one, training schedules, day-to-day operations, and athlete safety depend directly on weather conditions and air quality. Having accurate, up-to-date environmental information is therefore key to making quick decisions and providing an optimal environment for sports.

To meet these needs, Darrera supplied, installed, and commissioned a 3R AWS100-AQ station, designed to operate continuously and fully autonomously thanks to its solar power supply and 4G communication system.

The station features high-precision instruments that measure the main weather parameters: wind speed and direction, temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, precipitation, and barometric pressure. All of these sensors have been calibrated and certified by an ENAC-accredited laboratory (ENAC is Spain’s national accreditation body), ensuring the traceability and reliability of the measurements. The station also includes an air quality module that continuously monitors PM2.5 and PM10 particulate matter, as well as the pollutant gases CO, NO, NO₂, SO₂, O₃, and H₂S. The result is a complete, objective picture of the surrounding environmental conditions.

An industrial data logger manages all the information collected by the sensors and automatically transmits it via 4G to the Weathercloud Corporate platform. From there, Can Marlés staff can view real-time data, access historical records, display custom charts, generate daily, monthly, and annual PDF reports, and export data in CSV format for further analysis, among other features. The data is also publicly available on Weathercloud, so facility users and anyone else interested can check it.

The installation is rounded out by a high-visibility aviation windsock mounted on a 3-meter tilt-down mast, giving technical staff and athletes an instant visual reference of wind direction and strength.

With this project, Can Marlés now has an environmental monitoring infrastructure that combines professional instrumentation, real-time communication, energy self-sufficiency, and metrological assurance: a tool that supports more efficient and sustainable management of the center and strengthens its commitment to innovation.
