The unit measures key meteorological parameters and transmits real-time data via 4G to the Weathercloud online platform, making information easily accesible to both the City Council’s technical staff and the general public.
Darrera has carried out the installation of the new station on the rooftop of the Escola Mediterrània building, an ideal location for meteorological observation in the heart of Cornellà’s urban area. Its placement at the educational center also adds a valuable educational component, allowing students to explore climate science and become familiar with environmental monitoring technology in a hands-on and engaging way.
The installed unit corresponds to the Vantage Pro2 Plus model, a precision station capable of measuring key parameters such as wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, rainfall, barometric pressure, solar radiation, and UV radiation. It also calculates derived parameters such as dew point, wind chill, heat index, sunshine hours, evapotranspiration, and heating/cooling degree days, providing a comprehensive and detailed view of the local weather conditions.
The station is equipped with an EnviroMonitor 4G communication system, which enables real-time data transmission to the Weathercloud platform. This solution allows remote access to information from both computers and mobile devices, and provides municipal staff with a wide range of tools to view the current weather conditions, generate custom charts, download daily, monthly, and annual PDF reports, and export data in CSV for analysis in spreadsheet applications.
Through this initiative, Cornellà strengthens its commitment to environmental monitoring and information transparency. The station serves not only as a strategic tool for municipal management during adverse weather events, but also promotes environmental education and awareness among citizens. With this installation, all municipalities in the Baix Llobregat region are now equipped with a weather station supplied by Darrera, thereby consolidating a regional network of devices that deliver accurate, reliable, and accessible local data for everyone.
