Darrera successfully completes the installation of a high-performance weather station at the heliport of Formentera Hospital

The new 3R AWS400 station installed for IB-SALUT features high-precision sensors and a 4G communication system, providing SAMU061 pilots with the ability to remotely monitor the meteorological conditions at the heliport through a real-time data dashboard.

The meteorological sensor array includes an ultrasonic anemometer, thermo-hygrometer, aeronautical barometer, visibilimeter, and ceilometer, the first sensor of its kind installed on the island. Additionally, the station is equipped with a webcam that streams live images from the heliport to complement the meteorological information. Both the sensors and the webcam are installed on a 4-meter frangible mast with white and aeronautical red paint, in compliance with safety regulations and standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The mast’s base allows for safe folding, facilitating periodic maintenance tasks.

The 4G communication system ensures the efficient transmission of wind, temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, visibility, current weather, and cloud base data to the Weathercloud online platform, enabling remote monitoring and management by SAMU061 personnel, whether from a computer, tablet, or smartphone. This information not only contributes to enhancing safety in the hospital’s aerial operations but also allows for optimized planning, saving crucial time in emergency situations. Data from the main meteorological parameters are also accessible to the public for consultation through the Weathercloud network, which currently has more than 100,000 online stations worldwide.
