Port of Mataró optimizes operations with a new Vantage Pro2 Plus weather station installed by Darrera

The unit provides accurate real-time data, enhancing the safety of port operations, helping prevent infrastructure damage from severe weather, and facilitating the sharing of current weather conditions and local weather forecasts with port users and the general public via the Weathercloud online platform.

The new Vantage Pro2 Plus station is installed on a fiberglass mast at one of the port’s piers. Thanks to its solar power system, it operates fully autonomously without the need for an external electrical connection. The unit is equipped with sensors for wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation, and UV radiation. Additionally, it features a dedicated probe for measuring water temperature at the port.

The data collected by the station is transmitted to the cloud via Ethernet, using a WeatherLink Live communication system. The Weathercloud platform enables port staff to monitor weather conditions in real-time, generate custom graphs, print daily, monthly, and annual weather reports in PDF format, and export the historical database in CSV format for local use. Additionally, Weathercloud offers the option to set up alerts for adverse weather conditions and integrate the data into the port’s website for easy access by all users.

Port of Mataró joins a growing network of ports along the Catalan coast that already have weather stations provided and installed by Darrera. This initiative reinforces the port’s commitment to safety, operational efficiency, and continuous service improvement, ensuring accurate and reliable local weather information for its users.
