Darrera installs a 3R AWS100 high-performance municipal weather station in Menàrguens

The local government and residents can now check the current weather conditions in real time and the 6-day local weather forecast through the Weathercloud online platform for municipalities, which also allows to generate reports and graphs from the historical database fully open to the public.

Menàrguens joins the growing network of municipalities that have an automatic weather station to record and share their weather data with citizens. The new 3R AWS100 high-performance weather station installed by Darrera next to the C-12 road is powered by solar energy for fully autonomous operation based on renewable energies and is equipped with precision sensors for measuring wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, precipitation, atmospheric pressure and solar radiation. All sensors supplied have a calibration certificate.

The station has been installed on a meteorological folding tower, with the wind sensors at a height of 10 meters and the rain gauge installed separately at 1.5 meters from the ground, in accordance with the recommendations of the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat), the Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Darrera has carried out the complete installation, from the civil works for fixing the tower to the configuration and commissioning of the system.

The weather data recorded by the station is sent in real time via 4G to the Weathercloud online platform for municipalities, allowing anyone to check it remotely from a computer, tablet or smartphone. In addition, the information is stored in a historical database fully open to the public, helping to improve knowledge of the evolution of the climate in the municipality over the years.
