Darrera installs the new weather station of La Cuesta aerodrome in Ciudad Real

Aerodrome operators and pilots can now check the current weather conditions in real time and the local weather forecast for the present day and the next 6 days through the Weathercloud online platform.

Darrera’s specific weather stations for aerodromes and heliports are designed for monitoring the weather conditions in all kind of aviation safety applications. The stations are equipped with precision sensors for measuring wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, dew point and atmospheric pressure. In addition, they can be equipped with additional sensors for measuring precipitation, solar and UV radiation, runway temperature and condition, visibility and present weather, cloud height, air quality and lightning strikes. The entire system is powered by solar energy for fully autonomous operation.

Aerodrome and heliport stations can be supplied on a folding meteorological tower painted in white and aviation red bands according to regulations, and be equipped with an obstruction light on top to ensure high visibility under all weather conditions, both day and night.

The data is sent over 4G to the Weathercloud online platform for real-time monitoring from a computer, tablet or smartphone. Weathercloud offers a data dashboard that can be easily integrated into the aerodrome’s website, as well as displayed locally on a monitor or TV screen. Aerodrome operators can make use of the platform to generate daily, monthly and annual weather reports, configure alerts for adverse weather conditions, create custom plots and even export the data for use in other applications.
