After the commissioning of the new station, the municipal government and the residents of the small town located in the region of Baix Penedès (Tarragona) can now check both the current weather conditions in real time and the 6-day local weather forecast through the Weathercloud online platform.

Masllorenç has become part of the extensive network of municipalities that already have an automatic weather station to record and share their local weather information with citizens. The wireless Vantage Pro2 Plus station installed by Darrera at the Casa de la Vila building is powered by solar energy for fully autonomous operation based on renewable energies and is equipped with sensors for measuring wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation and UV radiation. Additionally, the unit calculates several derived parameters such as dew point, windchill and sunshine hours, among others.

The station features an Ethernet communication system for automated data transmission every minute to the Weathercloud online platform, allowing anyone to check it remotely from a computer, tablet or smartphone. In addition, all the information is stored in a historical database that will help improve knowledge of the evolution of the climate in the municipality over the years.
